Phases
- Implodes (Dying):
When the monster dies, it implodes into a vortex of destructive energy. All those within a melee space of the monster must make a contested Mighty check or be pulled into the vortex and suffer 1d6 force damage for each round they remain in the vortex. Damage from the vortex effects the doom condition. To escape the vortex, victims must succeed on a contested Mighty check. There is a 10% chance that victims who perish in the vortex are instead transported to a random location in the Astral Veil.
- Incorporeal (In Moonlight):
The monster only partially exists in the material realm, making it immune to mundane harm (it can be struck only by magical weapons or magical energy, like maleficence). The monster can pass through solid objects and move into occupied spaces.
Lore
TBD
Opportunistic and capricious, Moon Dragons live in the interiors of lunar caverns in the Outer Realms and have a psychical tie to certain celestial bodies. When they visit the material realm, their weaknesses are derived from the phases of the moon and its lack of visibility, and their attitudes change with each phase, becoming less benevolent and more selfish as the moon becomes full. When a Moon Dragon is under moonlight or physically in its lunar lair, it may become incorporeal at will. Moon Dragons make alliances with other Eldritch monsters, who frequent their lairs to exchange treasures the Moon Dragon has collected from Astral travelers it has imprisoned. Moon Dragons are fascinated by treasures obtained from far off realms, or rare minerals mined from foreign celestial bodies. They are mortal enemies to Sun Dragons.
