Gold Dragons are the noblest and holiest of dragons, often attended to by powerful humanoid paladins, spellcasters, clerics who devote their lives to serving the dragon in their lofty temples. While Gold Dragons like to walk among humans while shapeshifted because they become engrossed by the cultures of other species, they prefer not to meddle in the affairs of humanoids unless the world itself is threatened by insurmountable supernatural forces of evil. They are characterized as contemplative and aloof, but extremely patient. Such dragons are also notoriously reclusive, preferring to make their lairs in remote locations that are difficult for mortals to reach, as a way of testing the worthiness of adventurers who beseech them. A Gold Dragon’s hide, which is made of magical golden dragonscales, constitutes a fortune unto itself (worth millions in gold), and they consume wealth (gems, gold, and other precious minerals) as part of their diet, thus worshippers tend to bring offerings of wealth as a snack to appease them. Gold Dragons hoard sacred relics and artifacts they believe are too dangerous for mortals to possess.
