Lore
A Dire Boar is a sight to behold: nearly a ton of rage and fury, foaming at the jowls.
The creature is mostly muscle wrapped in bristling hair, with hide thick as armor and tusks honed into ivory spears. When it charges, the earth buckles, and anything in its path is crushed into the underbrush. These smelly behemoths are so stubborn that they die standing, fighting to the last snort to exact revenge on whatever frustrates them.
Dire boars are grumpy and aggressive; in encounters, they put pressure on the front line and punish hesitation. While they’re not fearless, they are dumb, and will often pursue opponents into disadvantageous positions. Their iconic tactic is the goring charge that knocks victims prone. Dire boars will eat anything (alive or dead), and travel in roving sounders that overwhelm foes with sheer numbers and weight.
